Traveling Site Superintendent (Iowa)
JOB SUMMARY:
The Superintendent is responsible for coordinating all site construction activities and supervising all field personnel as required to successfully complete the project on schedule and within budget. Corporate company is based in Indianapolis, Indiana. Job opportunities in both Des Moines, Iowa and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Traveling will be required.
Key Performance Objectives:
- Ensure that the appropriate building and site controls are adhered to throughout the project.
- Reads and interprets established scope of work, plans, specifications, addenda, and meeting minutes. Has complete understanding of all project requirements and oversees.
- Creates or assists along with updating the project schedules, and project logistics plan; communicates planned and schedule changes, alternate work assignments, changes orders and scope revisions to the project team and sub-contractors. This includes documenting all project delays (internal or external).
- Monitor project status and maintains appropriate on-site control and on-site representation to ensure that the project is completed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with the contract and owner’s expectations.
- Ensure all company employees and contractors are adhering to the company safety and quality policies. Investigates potentially serious situations and implements corrective measures.
- Maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interpersonal Responsibilities
- Act as TWG Construction, LLC. liaison to the owner, their representatives or advisors and is the first point of contact for addressing all project-related questions, clarifying and resolving project design issues, changes in scope of work, quality concerns or project delays.
- Holds project team and sub-contractors accountable for meeting performance standards and successfully delivering on project objectives.
- Establishes areas of accountability and performance objectives, monitors execution and provides ongoing feedback to project team, subcontractors, etc.
- Instructs employees, subcontractors, and others in approved/appropriate methods and processes of proper construction operations.
- Serves as a resource for answering project team, sub-contractor, owner and design team questions and assists with solving problems.
Operational Responsibilities
- Managing day to day project activities and coordinating trades with the objective of maintaining the construction schedule to ensure on-time project completion.
- Communicate project manpower, coordination and material needs to all subcontractors, suppliers and management on a daily basis.
- Create and maintain delivery schedule; post on site where visible to all parties.
- Inspect each delivery process for safe operation; determine proper location for material storage, and audit all TWG deliveries with proper documentation.
- Create and maintain Two Week Look Ahead Schedules to be distributed via email to the project team each week including subcontractors, suppliers and team members.
- Assist with building and updating Master schedules.
- Communicating and monitoring safe work practices and environment with zero recordable incidents.
- Conduct jobsite safety orientations with all project team members on their first day of work on-site.
- Control all exterior site safety; including but not limited to all equipment, scaffolding, ROW permitting, debris zones, and surrounding traffic.
- Observe all workers for safe work practices.
- Control all weather protection for entire site
- Monitor and direct daily job site clean-up activities to ensure a safe work environment at all times.
- Including interior and exterior house cleaning.
- Monitor all project team members’ daily activities to ensure 100-% compliance with all G/C, OSHA, State safety regulations, along with any client safety regulations.
- Issue verbal and written violation notices as needed and warranted.
- Remove parties in violation of policies and regulations from site.
- Inspect all personal for proper hardhat attire/sticker.
- Complete Safety Resources Safety Audits
- Distribute to all contractors within 24 hours of being issued.
- Facilitate subcontractor mediation of violations and record within 48 hours.
- Keep signed off copy on site and a digital copy on company server.
- Complete weekly site safety inspections
- Distribute to all project team members, all hard copies are to be kept until job completion.
Organizational Responsibilities
- Adhere to established processes for documenting and tracking essential project activities in order to assure proper planning, organization and management of risk:
- Complete Daily Construction Reports in Corecon.
- Ensure to account for all subcontractors on site each day.
- Complete employee time entry daily.
- Collect and file Weekly Tool Box Talks sign in sheets, all project team members must sign weekly. All hard copies are to be kept until job completion.
- Maintain and complete Monthly Fire Extinguisher Inspections. All hard copies are to be kept until job completion.
- Track and compile Self Perform work man hours for Superintendents approval daily.
- Responsible for signing and keeping daily tickets of any back charge work that is performed.
- Ensure that all of the work associated with the project requirements and construction documents are accurately completed.
- Implement a Quality Control Management Plan at the start of each project to be used to track subs work methods and quality management.
- Maintain a complete up-to-date issues log, listing the responsible parties and impact information.
- This document will need to be presented at every Monthly Project Operations Meeting.
- Create, distribute and enforce adherence to an established Site Logistics and Project Limits Plan.
- Serves as the on-site representative for communicating project requirements, status and changes to ensure a smooth running project that exceed the customers’ expectations.
- Maintain current and up to date drawings and specifications by posting all approved Addenda, bulletins and As-Built conditions.
- Confirm that all subcontractors are keeping up to date As-Built drawings.
- Schedule, manage and document weekly MEP coordination meetings at the start of all projects until coordination drawings are complete and signed off by all parties.
- Schedule, manage, and organize weekly on-site superintendent/foreman meetings.
- Create and update meeting minutes weekly.
- Distribute to all project team members weekly via e-mail and at the next regular meeting.
- Consult Project Management and Design Teams to obtain required information, details and supplemental instructions via RFI, and distribute information to all project team members as needed.
- Ensure that all approved change order work is properly implemented into the project in a timely manner as specified and detailed within the change order documents.
